| About us Compass Online Travel E-guides was established in 2008 by Jon Mitchell, a vetran foreign correspondent who has travelled widely as a photojournalist. Tired of spending lots of cash on travel guides, he decided to write them for free and publish them on the Internet, using online ads to fund the venture. At the moment, all the e-guides are written by Jon, though we hope to commission writers to produce more e-guides on a fuller range of destinations in the future and keep them updated. The concept of an e-guide is simply to publish useful, accurate and practical travel information on various web sites, each on a particular destination or sometimes subject (such as the Night Sky e-guide), which is aimed at astronomers, rather than travellers. There are many advantage to publishing travel guidebooks on the Internet. One important factor is that information can be updated, offerring better info than any printed guide ever could. Information not uncovered in initial research, can later be added to enhance the guide. One disadvangtage is maps, which are too costly to add to these guides, though we do link to good map sites on the destination in question whenever possible. |

| This site is best
viewed on a 1024x768 or higher screen resolution, though it has been
designed to be also viewed easily on PDA devices and mobile phones with
larger screens built-in. My personal favorite for browsing is Firefox
and on some browsers you may need to increase the font size
to view the
text better. |
